Power and wiring
Do I need an electrician?
The bars and connectors assemble by hand, and the grid fixes to the ceiling at the joints. Power passes through the connectors, so the whole grid runs from one driver on one switch. The driver’s connection to mains power should be made by a licensed electrician where local code requires it.
How is a grid powered?
One driver powers the entire grid, and mains power connects only at the driver. Power crosses every joint, so connected bars feed each other. A layout with separate sections, such as a border around a pattern or rings within rings, has one power lead or powered connector per section, all run from the same driver; the parts list on the product page shows how many. White kits run on a driver sized to their load; RGB kits run at 12 V DC on their own driver with an RF remote and app controller.
Will it work on my mains supply?
Each white kit’s driver is rated for 100–240 V or 110–240 V AC; the spec sheet on each product page gives its rating. Both cover 120 V in the US and Canada and 230 V in the UK, Europe and the UAE.
How many drivers do I need?
One. Every kit runs from a single driver sized to its load, and power passes from bar to bar through the connectors. White and RGB grids on the same ceiling each need their own driver. The product page states the total load.
Can I mix white and RGB on one grid?
They can sit side by side on the same ceiling, but they are two circuits and always will be: each has its own driver and its own control, and neither shares a connector with the other. Each needs its own feed.
Is it certified?
Certified for Canada and the USA: the products are certified to the applicable requirements for Canada and the USA.
The light itself
How bright is it?
Each product page gives the kit's output, calculated from its wattage and the low end of its rated efficacy: AluCore ZT2058, for example, gives about 31,000 lumens (calculated), from 288 W at 110 lumens per watt. The white range is rated at 100–120 lumens per watt: 100–110 on Hexagrid Pro and MaxBeam 80; 110–120 on AluCore, Connect X and Halo 100. For working light, our garage lighting guide plans on at least 50 lumens per square foot of floor. Compare output with the grid area on the product page; a lumen figure means little without the area it spreads over.
Can I change the color temperature?
On the white ranges, yes. 3000K, 4000K and 6500K are selectable on the fixture, with 6500K as standard. We note your choice on the order.
Is it dimmable?
Every white kit has three brightness levels: 100%, 60% and 30%. RGB kits are controlled from their remote or the app instead.
What about RGB?
The Chroma RGB collection has 14 designs, with more than 300 modes controlled from a remote or the app. RGB is a different fixture, not a setting: its output is lower than the white ranges and it runs on its own 12 V DC circuit.
How long does it last?
Rated 50,000 hours. At eight hours a day that is about seventeen years before the LEDs reach the end of their rated output.
Installation
Will it fit my ceiling?
Every kit has a scale drawing, with its exact size, to check against your ceiling before you order. Allow about a foot of clear ceiling on every side of the grid, clear of the door track, the opener rail and any other lights. Not sure? Send us your ceiling size and we’ll confirm the fit.
How long does it take?
Most one-car kits take two people an afternoon. The joints click together by hand; the time goes on laying out the shape and mounting the hardware to the ceiling. The installation guide walks through it.
Does it arrive built?
No. It arrives as bars, connectors and a driver, with the mounting hardware on white kits, and you build it flat on the floor before lifting it. That is what makes a 112-design range possible and what keeps the shipping box a sensible size.
Can I install it on a drop ceiling?
The grid mounts at its joints, so each joint needs an anchor point that will hold. On a drop ceiling, secure the grid to the structure above and suspend it rather than relying on the tile.
Can I change the layout?
The kits are sold as drawn, and the drawing on each product page is the layout you get. If none of the 112 designs is the shape of your room, tell us the dimensions and we will work out what to send.
Price and payment
Why does a HexaLuma kit cost more than a budget kit?
Here is what the price includes:
The complete kit: bars, connectors, the driver and, on white kits, the mounting hardware.
One driver matched to each grid, with 3000K, 4000K and 6500K selectable on the fixture and three brightness levels on every white kit.
A scale drawing, so you know the finished size before you order.
A 5-year limited warranty on fixtures and drivers, with shipping paid both ways on a valid claim. Warranty terms
Free delivery on every order, with no minimum.
A phone number to call before and after you buy: 888-817-5305.
Can I join two kits?
Each kit is its own grid with its own driver. Two kits make two grids, for example one over each bay of a two-car garage. Two of the same design are 10% off; three or more are 15% off each.
How does the welcome code work?
New customers can spin for a code worth 10–15% off a first order (the odds are shown before the spin), valid for 7 days. It comes off after any multi-kit saving, so the two stack.
How can I pay?
By card, or by Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link where they are offered at checkout, all processed by Stripe. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.

What is the warranty?
A 5-year limited warranty on fixtures and drivers from the delivery date, against defects in materials and workmanship, with shipping paid both ways on a valid claim. It does not cover damage from incorrect installation, the wrong supply voltage, or modification. Clause 7 of the terms of sale sets it out.
How does a warranty claim work?
Email info@hexaluma.com with your order number, a description of the fault and a photo. If a part has failed from a defect, we repair or replace it or refund its price, at our option, and pay the shipping both ways.
What if a part fails?
The grid is modular, so a failed part, such as a bar, a connector or the driver, is replaced on its own rather than the whole kit. Before the grid goes up, test it on the floor; if a bar stays dark, check first that its joints are fully seated. If the driver is hardwired, have your electrician make a temporary connection for the test.
