Why a grid instead of rows of shop lights

Light from several directions

Rows of fixtures light the floor in bands. A grid spreads its bars across the ceiling, so light reaches the work from several directions.

One driver, one switch

Power passes through every connector, so the whole grid runs from a single driver on a single switch. Rows of separate shop lights need their own outlets, or a chain of cords between them.

Five-year warranty

Fixtures and drivers carry a five-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, as set out in our terms of sale. Rated life is 50,000 hours, about 17 years at eight hours a day.

Arrives complete

What's in the box

Every kit ships as one complete set: the light bars, the connectors that join them, a matched driver, and the hardware that fixes the grid to the ceiling. You supply a drill and a ladder.

  • Light bars

The lit segments, each sleeved for transit.

  • Connectors

Set the angle at every joint and carry power across the grid.

  • Matched driver and leads

One driver runs the entire grid from a single connection.

  • Mounting hardware

Ceiling anchors, screws and clips for every fixing point.

  • Release key

Opens a joint if you reconfigure the grid or take it down.

  • Layout drawing

Your pattern drawn to scale, with every bar and joint marked.

Not included: a wall switch or ceiling junction box.

Two people and an afternoon for most one-car kits

  1. 1. Mark the mounting points on the ceiling
  2. 2. Join the bars on the floor, following the drawing
  3. 3. Fix the grid to the ceiling; the driver’s mains connection is made by a licensed electrician where local code requires it
  4. 4. Switch on

Every kit has a scale drawing. Check it against your ceiling before you order. The full installation guide is at hexaluma.com/installation.

Before you order: the one-car kit

Is it bright enough?

About 50,000 lumens, calculated from 456 W at 110 lumens per watt, the low end of the rated efficacy. That is more than the roughly 12,000 lumens our garage lighting guide plans for a 12 × 20 ft bay, at 50 lumens per square foot of floor. Three brightness levels, 100%, 60% and 30%, let you turn it down. Read the guide

Do I need an electrician?

The bars and connectors assemble by hand and fix to the ceiling with the anchors supplied. Power passes through the connectors, so the whole grid runs from one driver on one switch. The driver’s connection to mains power should be made by a licensed electrician where local code requires it. This kit’s driver is rated for 100–240 V AC: 120 V in the US and Canada, 230 V in the UK, Europe and the UAE.

Will it fit my ceiling?

The grid is 15′10″ × 8′0″. Allow about a foot of clear ceiling on every side, about 17′10″ × 10′0″ in all, clear of the door track, the opener rail and any other lights. Every kit has a scale drawing to check against your ceiling before you order. Not sure? Send us your ceiling size and we’ll confirm the fit.

What if a part fails?

5-year limited warranty on fixtures and drivers. If a part fails from a defect, we repair, replace or refund it, at our option, and pay shipping both ways. Warranty terms

Email a photo and your order number to info@hexaluma.com. The grid is modular, so a failed part is replaced on its own. Test the grid on the floor before it goes up; if a bar stays dark, check first that its joints are fully seated. If the driver is hardwired, have your electrician make a temporary connection for the test.
